I never got to see LCD Soundsystem live...this looks incredible. And his dog!
I did see James Murphy djing in Paris once... My friend and I were lucky enough to have a (very drunken) chat with him after his set and he seems like a lovely guy. That he has such a gorgeous dog just confirms it.

I'm going to Paris in less than two weeks (crutches or no crutches!) and have been drooling over everything on the city of lights.
I saw Midnight in Paris last week and it was divine. I think I need to see it again and actually pay attention to the plot this time, I was just gazing at the beautiful scenery in the background.
Here's the opening credits:
I won't lie when I say my heart hurt a little bit watching this film, but I shall see my lovely city so soon!
on a somewhat related note, I've been trawling through this amazing blog.
Behold, some lovely pics from (I think) the most recent PFW.

Going to see The Hangover 2 tonight!
(EDIT: Saw it and it's not up to much)
Can't wait to see Bradley Cooper's sea-blue eyes.
And Zach Galifianakis is hilarious.
PS. The french for hangover is 'La gueule de bois'.
So that's what the film is called in France, right?
You'd think that.
It's actually called 'Very Bad Trip'.
It's almost as good as the translation for the 'Step Up' films,
which are aptly (or not) called 'Sexy Dance'.
Oh L'Académie française.

I haven't read this yet, but it's on my (long) to-read list.

Side note: does it ever worry you that it's not really possible to read all the books that are out there? Or is just me? I get overwhelmed in bookshops thinking about how many I've read versus how many actually exist. And I'm only talking about topics which interest me (although they say you should learn about what you don't know, not what you do).
Anyway, I digress.
A lot of people have been talking about this book, and it's recently been made into a film.
I like Anne Hathaway, but her accent seems to have a mind of its own in this.
There's plenty of English actresses that they could have picked, is there not? Now, I haven't read the book so I don't know how people picture her character, but that accent annoys me.
And I like you Anne!
I just scoffed a ridiculous amount of Lemon Fizz Balls
so you can blame the above rant on sugar rush if you like.
Here's the trailer.
(Jim Sturgess is cute though)

Yesterday I watched High Society...

...and The Philadelphia Story.

And while Grace Kelly is everything a female movie lead should be,
I far prefer the latter. James Stewart is the greatest.
This might be my favourite scene.

Hey Jake,
I'm going to see Source Code tonight.
I hope it's good, because your last few films... eh.
Anyway, why don't you pick something that's set in Paris next time?
That'd be good. And I could come over and be your personal guide to the city?
Think about it.
XO

PS. Here's the new Woody Allen, and it's set in Paris!
Inspiration Jakey.

Bill Cunningham is the original street style photographer. For around 30 years he's been taking photos for his column 'On The Street', which appears every Sunday in the Style section of The New York Times.
Usually centered around a theme, the photos are featured on the website in the form of an audio slideshow, with Bill narrating it.
This is one of my favourites in which he talks about the Parisian obsession with legs.
I should probably mention that he's in his 80s. Oh, and he doesn't take a salary.
Pretty amazing, especially in 'the current climate' (as some are all too fond of saying).
You can find his back catalogue here.
PS Any trailer that uses Nico gets my vote.

Here's a nice bit of awareness for your Monday morning/afternoon/whatever it is wherever you are.
I doubt this will be released over here, but I'd love to see it.
And in (kind of) related news, this morning Obama launched his campaign for 2012.
GObama!

Keeping with today's theme...
The first kiss.
To say I was ecstatic when I first watched this episode, would be an understatement.
Pacey & Joey! Finally.
And it's as good now as it was 11 (11?!) years ago.
Sigh. The only thing I can say is, really,
who would pick Andie MacDowell over Kristen Scott Thomas?
Et bien sûr, Amélie et Nino.
Honestly, I could post about a thousand videos of my
favourite film romances but that wouldn't be fun for anyone!

I reeaaaally enjoyed It's Complicated. It made me want to move to California (at least I think that's where it was set) and open up a bakery with Meryl Streep. Sigh, one day.
It also made me want to have an affair with Alec Baldwin? Did I just type that?
But the best thing (not really, but you know) about the film was that it brought this gem back to me.
This is one of those songs I hear on the radio etc but have never really known who sang it.
And now I do! God, I love 80s music.

I'm actually obsessed with talking about the weather. BUT right now it's horrible! verrry windy, and lashing rain. And all the election posters are flying all over the place.

Anyway, tonight I'm going to be a good daughter and am cooking a roast for my Mum. And we're going to watch It's Complicated. Nancy Meyers makes perfect films for Mothers & Daughters, at least I think so! John Krasinski for me, and Alec Baldwin for me Ma (and me too, maybe).

It's such a lovely day today. Warm enough to go without a coat! The sky is blue and the air feels crisp. And there's just the right amount of sun.
I think this trailer fits the day perfectly. Despite the fact that it's not very age approproate, I will definitely be going to see this!
So cute!
PS Have you seen Tangled? I'm excited to see it and don't want to be disappointed.

Back from a whirlwind weekend in London. I spent 48 hours drinking, eating, dancing and talking. Soooo good. And exactly what I needed (apart from sleeping in this morning and almost missing my flight!).
Of course I forgot my camera so thanks to my blackberry this is my only photo from the weekend

Encapsulates London, doesn't it?!
Besides checking the usual blogs/news sites/email when I come back from somewhere, I always check the Apple site for new film trailers! And this looks so good.
Mélanie Laurent, Ewan McGregor, Captain Von Trapp AND a cute dog?
Essential ingredients for the perfect film if you ask me!

January is so perfect for hibernating in a good book, or going to the cinema.
Since I've got the books covered, I was looking at some
trailers and there's lots of great films coming out!

Verrry excited for The Kings Speech

The Coen brothers remake of the old western True Grit

Not entirely sure what this one's about but it's got the 'biutiful'
Javier Bardem speaking Spanish, that's enough for me. Biutiful

Jake, take me now. Love and Other Drugs

Ryan Gosling & Michelle Williams look pretty perfect together. Blue Valentine

This looks incredible, but scary... Black Swan
