'Never has a nation so small inspired so much in another'




Yesterday I braved the rain and the crowds,
and headed into College Green to see OBAMA speak!
We had to queue for about 3 hours to get a good(ish) spot but it was worth it.
And I got frisked by Secret Service, amazing!
I felt like I was in an episode of The West Wing.

Add to that my 3 sightings of The Queen last week
and I've enough 'Head Of State' moments to last me a while.

Here's the speech, if you're interested. It's a goodie.
He had the audience in the palm of his hand.
Sigh.

Here's a nice bit of awareness for your Monday morning/afternoon/whatever it is wherever you are.




I doubt this will be released over here, but I'd love to see it.

I've got applications and such to do, so I'm having a subdued Patrick's Day. I'll probably go for a pint later (I'm such a ladette on Paddy's Day) but will most likely end up watching some Father Ted. Party On!

While I don't claim to be a political scientist of any sort, I am an election junkie and have been glued to RTE for the best part of today.

If you're not based in Ireland, or don't know anything about Irish politics, I'll just say that this is probably the most important general election in our country's history.
And, I am loving the hype!

Given current circumstances in the Middle East and North Africa,
the right to vote seems more important than ever.

So if you do one thing today, vote!
Even if you spoil your vote, vote.
You have the right to.
