Today marks the the first civil-partnership in the history of the state.
It's hard to believe that the 'act of homosexuality' was decriminalised only 18 years ago.

(The man who was essentially responsible for it all is now running for President. Go Norris!)

I know the country isn't in the best place at the moment, but it's nice to see how far we've come!*

And this month saw the launch of 'Stand Up!' which I suppose is the equivalent of the 'It Gets Better' project in America.

Check out this little film.

I've got applications and such to do, so I'm having a subdued Patrick's Day. I'll probably go for a pint later (I'm such a ladette on Paddy's Day) but will most likely end up watching some Father Ted. Party On!

So it's St Patrick's Day now!

I began my celebrations a little early (despite how tacky it can be,
I love Paddy's Day) so this post may be under the influence of a few pints of the black stuff,
but I won't tell anyone if you won't.

When I was a young 'un, the 17th meant a day off school, a trip to the parade, and getting my face painted.... And now it means drinking Guinness (which I do without fail every year,
because I'm cool like that), and going to the parade.

In my fam we don't do the bacon and cabbage thing,
but we do have a full Irish to start the day off!
Rashers, Pudding, Sausages, Eggs, Mushrooms, Tomatoes and Batch Bread.
Best. Thing. Ever.

So wherever you are may I wish you a Happy Patrick's Day!
Or I should probably say 'Lá Le Phádraig Shona Dhuit'.

Go Ireland!

While I don't claim to be a political scientist of any sort, I am an election junkie and have been glued to RTE for the best part of today.

If you're not based in Ireland, or don't know anything about Irish politics, I'll just say that this is probably the most important general election in our country's history.
And, I am loving the hype!

Given current circumstances in the Middle East and North Africa,
the right to vote seems more important than ever.

So if you do one thing today, vote!
Even if you spoil your vote, vote.
You have the right to.

The Late Late Toy Show* is on tonight!

Apparently Tubs is not only wearing a Christmas Jumper but he's going to sing aswell!
My money's on Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka...



The amazing John Joe stole the show last year so I really hope he'll be making a cameo at some stage.

I am ridiculously excited, probably more than I should be at the age of 26, but I LOVE Christmas and it starts tonight! And God knows the country needs a bit of festive fun.

Ehhh, even though the country seems to be falling apart at the seams, life must go on.

Escapism comes in the form of drooling over clothes I can't afford at the moment.

I've tried this beauty and it's soooo nice. But they've marked up the price by a massive €43 euro with the 'exchange rate'. Sure Topshop, sure.

We may be f***ed, but at least we know what's important.

Tayto sambo anyone?

Even though I still class it as summer, August in Dublin has been horrible the past few days. Lashing rain and soooo windy.

I'm excited for Autumn clothes though, it's my fave season fashion-wise. I always strive to change my look, but end up wearing the same thing (a mélange of tights, dresses and massive cardigans. oh and hats of course).

I'm going to be in Canada for the latter part of September and I don't know how cold/warm it's going to be so it's a bit of a mare when it comes to packing.

One thing I will definitely be bringing (but have yet to find) is the perfect chunky cardigan. I am a cardigan nerd. I must have at least 30, but in my opinion one can never have enough. We all know that the 'fisherman sweater' (as modeled by Alexa) is everywhere and 'in' for the A/W season.



Yeah, everyone in the Wesht of Ireland has been wearing these
lovely jumpers for a loooong time. So while Topshop and UO (Prada and Marc too),
are doing their interpretations of the cable knit, I'll be hitting up Blarney Woolen Mills
for a nice Aran Sweater, made by the lovely people on the Aran Islands.
Supporting the economy too, so it's a win-win!

It's a documentary that features ordinary Irish women (from the midlands) chatting about the men in their lives. Really really sweet!

The new national anthem...

I was going to go and see Leap Year for a laugh, but I'm having serious doubts thanks to Donald Clarke. Among other reviews I've read, there's been suggestions that Ireland should sue the filmmakers.
My biggest peeve is that her plane lands in Cardiff and she has to get a boat to Dingle to get to Dublin? Did anyone look at a map?!
Oh well, maybe some good will come of it... It's like a little Tourist advertisement. Except it advertises an Ireland in the 1800s.

This little film is nominated in the short animated category at this years Oscars.
