It's all going down in lovely London at the moment. As always, the good will overcome the bad and cleanups are being organised across the city. I'll be there next weekend... hopefully the end of this reckless behaviour is in sight.

18 July, 2011

The weather was atrocious this weekend.
Rain, rain, and more rain.
AKA perfect DVD weather.
And I watched a lot.

One of which was The September Issue.

Such a great docu!

And this moment always gets me.

(The video won't embed but if click on the lovely picture, you can watch it)

love the lace sleeves!
love the train!
the tiara!
Perfect Wedding Dress.

I watched the (I was going to say 'show') ceremony with my Mum this morning.
We drank Bellinis, ate cucumber sandwiches and victoria sponge,
and...I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I cried!
No-one does pomp like the Brits.

Cutest flower girl award goes to:

Adorable!

I am wedding-ed out.

Keeping with today's theme...

The first kiss.
To say I was ecstatic when I first watched this episode, would be an understatement.
Pacey & Joey! Finally.
And it's as good now as it was 11 (11?!) years ago.

Sigh. The only thing I can say is, really,
who would pick Andie MacDowell over Kristen Scott Thomas?

Et bien sûr, Amélie et Nino.

Honestly, I could post about a thousand videos of my
favourite film romances but that wouldn't be fun for anyone!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Regardless of my relationship status (single at the mo), I'm not mad on Valentine's Day but I do love a good love story.
This Feb 14th I'll be eating and drinking with all the single ladies.

Listening to this beaut of a man...

(nice & soppy eh?).

I picked up this tiny book of quotes en francais in a 2nd hand bookshop and it's got a section on amour.

This one caught my eye
"L'affection est un sentiment fade, c'est l'amour des gens tièdes" - Paul Léautaud

Roughly translated it means 'being fond of someone is a dull feeling, it's love for the halfhearted'.

And while I'm on the quotes, couldn't not post this one on Valentine's Day.

'Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering', from the gorgeous book The History of Love by Nicole Krauss.

20 January, 2011

I know it's a little early, but it's the next 'holiday' (Pancake Tuesday isn't til March!!). And Refinery 29 have this sweet little list of possible Valentine's Day gifts.

Some of my faves:

these teacups.

and these dainty forget me knot rings!

I'd add this to list. It's a compilation of short love stories edited by Jeffrey Eugendies featuring the likes of Chekov, Joyce and Nabokov. SO great.

11 January, 2011

I've definitely got a case of the January Blues.
The only cure for this is tea, a mammoth book (Skippy Dies),
and copious episodes of Downton Abbey (obsessed).

And, whenever I feel blue I delve into my 'Paris' folder.
Admittedly it makes me a little sad that I'm not there right now,
but it's nearly Spring and I can feel a trip coming up at some point in 2011.

Which is impossible to recreate

I'm still on a high from seeing Arcade Fire last Monday. I've seen them four times now, and they never disappoint. They're so consistent!

So please excuse me while I get all fangirl for five minutes.

Here they are looking a tad like they are in Forks, WA.

So well dressed

Chilled

Amazing duo

Win + Renee. Sigh, true love.

I'm not huge on covers because they often sound EXACTLY like the original (Westlife, I'm looking at you), but AF manage to make them their own.
A few examples include: Magnetic Fields' - Born On A Train, The Clash - The Guns Of Brixton, New Order - Age Of Consent and Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps.

Go see Arcade Fire if you haven't, it'll change your life. Promise

08 September, 2010

My poor little Mac is getting slower every day. I've been trying to clear all the 'unnecessary' files and in doing so I came across these gems.
They're from a Vanity Fair spread on Power Couples.

Recently started watching Parks & Rec with the fab Amy Pohler and I looove it!
Which reminds me, I haven't seen Baby Mama starring Amy & Miss Fey.
Must add it to my screenclick list.

For the week that's in it

Is it a month?
By J. M. Synge

Is it a month since I and you
In the starlight of Glen Dubh
Stretched beneath a hazel bough
Kissed from ear to throat to brow,
Since your fingers, neck and chin
Made the bars that fenced me in,
Till Paradise seemed but a wreck
Near your bosom, brow and neck
And stars grew wilder, growing wise
In the splendour of your eyes!

Since the weasel wandered near
Whilst we kissed from ear to ear
And the wet and withered leaves
Blew about your cap and sleeves,
Till the moon sank tired through the edge
Of the wet and windy hedge?
And we took the starry lane
Back to Dublin town again.

In Paris with you
By James Fenton

Don't talk to me of love. I've had an earful
And I get tearful when I've downed a drink or two.
I'm one of your talking wounded.
I'm a hostage. I'm maroonded.
But I'm in Paris with you.

Yes I'm angry at the way I've been bamboozled
And resentful at the mess that I've been through.
I admit I'm on the rebound
And I don't care where are we bound.
I'm in Paris with you.

Do you mind if we do not go to the Louvre,
If we say sod off to sodding Notre Dame,
If we skip the Champs Elysees
And remain here in this sleazy
Old hotel room
Doing this and that,
To what and whom
Learning who you are,
Learning what I am.

Don't talk to me of love. Let's talk of Paris,
The little bit of Paris in our view.
There's that crack across the ceiling
And the hotel walls are peeling
And I'm in Paris with you.

Don't talk to me of love. Let's talk of Paris.
I'm in Paris with the slightest thing you do.
I'm in Paris with your eyes, your mouth,
I'm in Paris with...all points south.
Am I embarrassing you?
I'm in Paris with you.
