12 June, 2011

I'm off to the west for a belated Mother's Day holiday with, surprise, my Mum!
It's a really pretty part of this lovely Isle with some of the best beaches in the country, but unfortunately there seems to have been a mix up with the weather and it's been lashing rain all day. I'd planned to rent a bike and cycle along the Atlantic coast, but I'll have to see what the weathers up to before I hope on a bicicletta.

It's so funny, despite the fact that we live in a country that is synonymous with rain,
the whole country seems to think it's
acceptable to come to a standstill when there's a few showers.
'Ah, I'm late 'cus of the rain' or 'Sorry, I'll have to cancel - it's raining' are all viable excuses here.

Anyway, here's what I'll most likely be packing.
The Irish summer wardrobe is about covering all eventualities.

Mine, money no object, wouldn't be complete without the following:
Factor 50 (a necessity for my pale skin),
Wellies - hunters natch, umbrella,
and the newest member to the Mulberry family.
It's so cute!

It's meant to be 16ºC (60ºF) today, which is verging on heatwave territory for Ireland. ESPECIALLY in February!

I'm off to put on my Factor 25!

03 February, 2011

I'm actually obsessed with talking about the weather. BUT right now it's horrible! verrry windy, and lashing rain. And all the election posters are flying all over the place.

Anyway, tonight I'm going to be a good daughter and am cooking a roast for my Mum. And we're going to watch It's Complicated. Nancy Meyers makes perfect films for Mothers & Daughters, at least I think so! John Krasinski for me, and Alec Baldwin for me Ma (and me too, maybe).

01 February, 2011

It's such a lovely day today. Warm enough to go without a coat! The sky is blue and the air feels crisp. And there's just the right amount of sun.

I think this trailer fits the day perfectly. Despite the fact that it's not very age approproate, I will definitely be going to see this!

So cute!

PS Have you seen Tangled? I'm excited to see it and don't want to be disappointed.

3 sleeps to go...

Currently suffering from a flu/chest infection and feeling very sorry for myself.

Luckily I'm at home so my Mum is looking after me. Due to this stupid feckin' snow we're pretty much stranded. I still have some shopping to do so think I will brave town tomorrow... I might be mad. Enough with the snow. It's pretty, but I can't handle the country coming to a standstill every time it falls.

For now I'm drinking hot ribena and eating Tylenol (SO glad I brought lots back from Canada) while watching Rookie Blue online. What a life.

The Countdown to Christmas is ON!

2fm played the first Christmas song this morning, so it is officially okay to listen to festive music 24/7 (Christmas FM, how are ya).

The weather outside is most certainly frightful, it hardly ever snows here. But half a foot?? In Dublin?! Nuts. I spent a stupid amount of time waiting for a bus earlier, before deciding going out tonight wasn't the most wise idea. So now I'm deciding which Christmas film to watch, and what goodies to bake!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!

(expect a lot of this over the next 24 days)

29 November, 2010

It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

The toy show, which was one of the best yet, was followed by a night of THUNDERSNOW. Yes, there is such a thing. It rarely snows here, and we don't get much thunder so a combo of the two was a littttle odd.

Now everyone is being very Irish and talking about the weather non-stop (myself included). AND, it's meant to continue throughout the week with 25cm (twenty-five!) forecast for tonight! It makes everything look pretty which is great seen as how the country is f**ked in every other way.

This little dude was easily my fave on Friday. So sure of himself and not in a precocious way like some kids can be.

Tonight, I'm going to make some lasagne and FINALLY read 'Never Let Me Go' by the fire.

07 November, 2010

Apparently, a storm is heading our way!

So most of my Sunday has consisted of waiting for said storm,

and sitting by the fire

Making (and eating) these

eating these too

reading

And looking forward to the finale of this:

SO good!

Today is the first day that it really feels like winter. It's baltic today! Which means, tomorrow is winter wardrobe time!!

02 November, 2010

It's a blah kind of day. It's far too soon for Christmas chat but today I was in a shopping centre that was already decorated?! TOO soon. I love Christmas like no other, but there's a time and a place for everything. And that time is DECEMBER.

Drizzly Monday Evening Essentials:

Drink: Tea

Eat:

(Homemade Banana Bread)

Watch: Dawson's Creek

Read:

I gave up on Stieg Larsson... for the moment anyway.

16 August, 2010

Still obsessed with The Alexa.
But thanks to good aul Topshop, I've got my eye on some cheaper satchels!

This one's quite unisex but the leather looks soooo soft.

I need this bag, I've seen it in real life and I'm in love.

Sheepskin is where it's at this autumn,

and as much as I like it, I can see myself buying the stuff and looking at it,
rather than wearing it.

I almost bought a pair of boots last week. It's weird to be thinking about
A/W clothes already. As I'm writing this it's about 14C and lashing rain
which means all I want to do is read and drink tea.
I'm such a granny.

24 May, 2010

Perfect Sunday Afternoon:

22ºC and Sunny

Newspaper of choice (Observer please)

Crisps (C&O is best), bread and butter for...

CRISP SAMBO!
(So wrong it's right)

Two scoops of HB Vanilla and Coke for
a yummy coke float

Long live (Irish) summer!

18 May, 2010

As sad as I am that it's currently pissing rain
outside (IN THE MIDDLE OF MAY), tonight I'll be
staying in and watching movies (yay!). I got
Brideshead Revisted (2008 film) in the post today.

I refused to see it in the cinema, but I added it
to my ScreenClick list (hoping that I'd never
actually get it), and now the time has come!

Now, I love Matthew Goode...

But my heart will always belong to Jeremy Irons'

Charles Ryder
(that voice!)

If you haven't read this book - READ IT.
And then watch the 8-part mini series.
(I'm pretty sure the whole thing is on Youtube)

You will thank me for it, I promise

29 March, 2010

Bah!

After such a lovely weekend, today it has been raining non-stop.
Lashing it down in fact.
And it's meant to SNOW tomorrow?!
It's almost April.
I've put away all my really warm clothes,
I'm not ready for 1C degree weather, never mind snow!

AND, it's set to rain in Paris!
Not impressed at all.
Baking cakes and having wagamama tonight to curb my anger...I don't think it's working.

03 March, 2010

Dear Winter,
Isn't it time you left? As much as I love my scarf/mittens/hat,
I do not like wearing them in MARCH.
My coat wants to be put away
and my legs need a break from tights.

Spring, where are you?

20 February, 2010

I am officially giving up vodka.

Though I'd like to think vodka for making the following hungover activities possible

-Leafing through old Vogues (I found one from 2004 with ScarJo!)
-Making Lasagne
-Baking Brownies (can't eat chocolate but just as satisfying to make them)
-Googling places to go in Mainland Europe for interrailing
Doing all of the above whilst wearing a heart print onesie and listening to Beach House.

26 January, 2010

Summer is a long way away but it's all I can think about lately. Mainly because, as much as I love layers and tights and etc etc, I can't wait to wear dresses and skirts that people can actually see because they're not covered up by a giant coat/scarf/mittens.

Shorts!
Skirts!
Tees!
Sandals!

...And then I remember that it's Ireland, the country with year round weather. No such thing as seasonal wardrobes here.

11 January, 2010

SNOW joke.

HA.

This is how I spent much of the weekend.

Snow Angels... Yes I'm 25 years old.

05 January, 2010

It is so cold tonight, I feel like an icicle.
Currently sipping on some Sleep Easy tea and leafing through a 2004 Vogue I found when I was throwing out old magazines.

Bbbbrrrrrr.

21 November, 2009

When the rain is bucketing down, constantly, the only thing to do is stay indoors with a rug, hot water bottle and cup of tea... and DVDs! I've watched Factory Girl three times in as many weeks and I am obsessed with Edie Sedgewicks eye make up.

I've also been watching The West Wing again, although I decided to take a break when I had the same dream (about working in the US Senate) 5 nights in a row. Pretty exhausting considering my knowledge of US politics goes as far as Obama (love).
